I attended the Brew Fest for the first time a few years ago and I couldn't believe what I had been missing. What seemed like hundreds of different beers and wines to sample were available for my tasting pleasure. From the darkest loggers to sweet Belgium Frambiose, at this fest you are sure to find your new favorite.

If you are adventurous with your taste buds (and of course 21+), this event is for you. Instead of always sticking with the same thing at your local pub, this fest allows you to try a small amount of unique brews -- and if you don't like it -- you are not out $5 on a pint you don't like.

I also loved that I was supporting local businesses -- discovering breweries and wineries that were right here in CNY. Being able to talk first hand with those who make the drinks was also fun because it gives you interesting background information on how what you are drinking was made. Once you discover what you like, it is also a real treat to learn about tours you can take at their facilities. If you have not ever been on a Finger Lakes winery and brewery tour, you are missing out!

Make sure to check out this event next July and find out for yourself. Cheers!

And if you would like to volunteer for the event and help out a local brewer by pouring for them, visit the site - contact Karen at brewfest@twcny.rr.com. Shifts are 4pm to 7:30 pm, 7:00 to 10:30 pm or 4:00 to 10:30 pm. Volunteers get to enjoy the rest of the festival after their shift (a $40 value).
