Farmer's Market Season is Upon Us

After a long winter and a soggy spring, there's nothing better than the return of farmer's markets throughout the Syracuse area. Although the Regional Market on Park St is open all year round, summer is when all of the local plants and produce show up and the market is really in full swing.

I stopped by last Saturday and was blown away by the size of the green peppers alone. Some of them required two hands to pick up! Along with an immense collection of annuals and hanging baskets (my fav), the market is always a pleasure.

Downtown has a market of it's own. Every Tuesday in the parking lot on the corner of South Salina & West Washington Streets, farmers set up shop with their best produce. This is a great thing to do on your lunch hour if you work downtown.

Other towns and villages have their markets as well. Click here for a listing of one near you.

Here's another listing by Upstate Medical Center.

Ditch Wegman's! Get out there, buy local produce and support local farmers!
