This weekend 20 volunteers gathered at the Wilson Building to start cleaning out 20 years of debris. I was one of them.

In fact, I spent most of the day perched in a window sill on the second floor running the trash chute. I made sure the volunteers on the ground didn't get hurt by falling items.

We became a well-oiled machine in no time. Crews were scattered across the 2nd floor gathering trash into bins and transporting it to the front room where the trash chute was connected to a large window facing Salina St. Two more volunteers sorted through the trash for size restrictions and anything that might be a bio-hazzard. Then down-the-chute it went.

In a little under 4 hours, we filled two large dumpsters to the brim with papers, old office furniture and construction debris. It was a rewarding Saturday of work, and I was proud to be a part of it.

Adapt CNY will be cleaning out the Wilson Building for the next few weekends, both Satuday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm with the exception of Novemer 11th (Veteran's Day) and Thanksgiving weekend. Help be a part of this historic project. Join us!
