Why Eastwood Rocks

I moved to Eastwood last year from the 'burbs and I just need to tell everyone how cool it is.

First of all, the slogan for our cozy part of the city is "Walkable Eastwood," and it so is! I go for walks at least four times a week and never get tired of the scenery -- cute little houses and families, unique shops and lots of trees. Eastwood is a wonderful neighborhood to stretch your legs.

It is also so affordable! When looking at real estate, I couldn't believe what great deals were available -- especially for a young professional, a couple or family looking for their first home. Let's just say you can pay your mortgage and have money left for shoe shopping! And compared to major metropolitan areas like NYC, DC or Boston -- you could buy a whole block of houses here for what it costs for a one bedroom apartment! There are also assistance programs for folks looking to buy a house in the city through Home Headquarters (and others I'm sure).

Eastwood also holds a hidden gem -- the newly restored Palace Theatre. If you have never been, you must check it out. From anywhere in Eastwood it is a short walk -- try going to an early evening show to mix up your week -- and make sure to visit their cafe next door for some to die for sandwiches!

Convenient to all, no more than five minutes from downtown, the east side, 81 or 690, Eastwood is the perfect central location for someone who is looking to "try out" the city. Go check out Eastwood -- you will be pleasantly surprised.
